Inuvik, NWT

The Joint Secretariat will be hosting a five-day Oil Spill Response training course during the week of August 23, 2015. The training will give participants knowledge of techniques in cleaning up small spills in the region.

The course was developed through the Beaufort Regional Environmental Assessment (BREA) under the leadership of the Oil Spill Preparedness and Response Working Group.

Over the five-day course, the participants will partake in two field sessions and complete a final exam. Information relating to all relevant scenarios, including, spill sources, causes, and properties, along with response strategies, equipment, and application methods are addressed in the training.

Who We Are

The Beaufort Regional Environmental Assessment (BREA) is a multi-stakeholder initiative to sponsor regional environmental and socio-economic research that will make historical information available and gather new information vital to the future management of oil and gas in the Beaufort Sea.

How We Help

BREA funds targeted research projects that will improve management of oil and gas activities in the Beaufort Sea. Projects may fall under different categories such as research, monitoring, baseline data collection, modelling, and data mining and/or synthesis.
